Mount Liberty has some really nice views and lots of options to get to the summit. Liberty (4459 ft). The parking lot was huge and had tons of open spots. (9/12). Tough hike. This is a 9.8 mile loop hike with 3700 cumulative feet of elevation gain that takes about 4-6 hours to complete. Flume/Mt. The shortest and easiest route is up and down Liberty Spring. Going down the liberty is steep but doable, nothing compared to going up Flume side. You can loop Liberty into a short day hike while also grabbing Mt Flume. I would not recommend going in these conditions, or perhaps you could neutralize the ground cover with snowshoes or some other gear. Liberty’s true identifiable birthmark, however, is the final scramble to the summit over a rock formation easily … Mount Liberty Climb Did this mountain as part of the Franconia Ridge loop; an 8.9 mile trail over 6 summits, including Lafayette. Don’t hike this trail if it has recently rained and be ready to get some real hiking in. It’s a 5 star trail. If you are a fan of steep trails with a little bit of rock scrambling, the flume slide trail is a must. Ask fellow travelers and attraction managers your top questions. This trail is amazing, I definitely recommend it! There are several water crossings along the way, today all of them were fairly easy to rock hop over. Sturdy hiking boots and poles were really helpful. Flume has a cooler rock formation (IMO) and liberty has more room for folks to take a break. Liberty, continue a short while longer on the Franconia Ridge Trail until you reach the Liberty Spring Trail. It’s a very quick hike from Flume to Liberty so definitely always make it a loop.
